LYCOMING MEN’S BASKETBALL ROUTS DELAWARE VALLEY

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosted Delaware Valley College, Saturday evening, for a Freedom Conference showdown. The Warriors dominated the contest from start to finish, winning by a final margin of 45 points – 96-51. Lycoming improves to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference with the victory. The Aggies drop to 1-4 and 0-2.

The Warriors got out of the gates quickly scoring the first 10 points of the game. Tommy Wesner (Sr./Dillsburg, PA; Northern) scored eight of his team’s first 13 points and assisted on the squad’s other two baskets as Lycoming set the tone early.

Delaware Valley showed signs of life, weathering the early onslaught and pulling within four midway through the first half. But the Warriors closed the half with a 17-6 run that gave them a 44-29 cushion at intermission.

Any questions about the outcome of the game that were not answered by halftime were quickly answered after the break. Lycoming held the Aggies to just five points through the first 10 minutes of the second period while pouring in 34 markers of their own to take a commanding 78-34 lead.

Matt Stackhouse (Jr./Hughesville, PA; Hughesville) was the game’s leading scorer with 25 points to go along with six rebounds. He also blocked four shots. Wesner added 19 points, including five three pointers. He also tallied five assists. L.J. Huggler (Jr./St. Marys, PA; St. Marys) led the team with seven rebounds while scoring 13 points.

“First off it’s good to get another win in the conference, every one of those is big,” said Lycoming head coach Terry Conrad. “Second, in a game like this it was good to see our guys keep their focus for the entire forty minutes. They did a good job of continuing to work hard at both ends and stretching the lead out. It was also nice to see so many positive contributions from so many different guys.”

The Warriors’ next contest is on Monday, December 16, at Elmira College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
