LYCOMING’S
WESNER JOINS 1000-POINT CLUB
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA – Lycoming College senior Tommy Wesner (Dillsburg, PA;
Northern) became the 23rd Warrior to score
1,000-points during his career at the College, Wednesday evening.
Wesner scored 18 points in Lycoming’s 82-80 victory over Wilkes
University to give him 1,003 points in his third season with the
Warriors.
Last year, Wesner
led both the team and conference in scoring, averaging 17.4 points
per game. He was the primary offensive weapon on a team that went
20-8 overall, won their first ever Freedom Conference
championship, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA
tournament. Wesner’s efforts earned him Player of the Year
honors in the conference.
Wesner joined the
team as a sophomore and had an immediate impact, scoring 16.9
points per game while leading the squad in three-pointers. Prior
to coming to Lycoming, Wesner starred for Northampton Community
College where he scored 430 points as a freshman – giving him a
total of 1,433 points during his collegiate career.
As
a team, the Warriors are off to a 3-1 start to the 2002-2003
campaign. Their next contest is scheduled for Saturday, December
7, when they host Delaware Valley College. Tip-off is scheduled
for 8 p.m.
