WARRIOR MEN’S
BASKETBALL COMES UP SHORT AT BLOOMSBURG
BLOOMSBURG, PA
– The Lycoming College men’s basketball team traveled to
Division II Bloomsburg University, Tuesday evening, for a
non-conference contest. The Warriors battles the Huskies
throughout the game, but could not overcome the second half
shooting performance of the home team, falling 90-80. Bloomsburg
improves to 2-1 with the win. Lycoming drops to 2-1 overall.
The Huskies
jumped out to a quick 10-3 lead in the opening minutes of the
game, but the Warriors responded, coming back to tie the game and
then take a seven-point lead of their own midway through the first
half. Lycoming held the advantage for nearly 10 minutes, but
Bloomsburg fought back at the end of the period to tie the game at
37-37 heading into halftime.
The two teams
battled back and forth in the early part of the second half with
the Warriors grabbing a 51-50 lead with 12:41 to play. That lead,
however, would be Lycoming’s last as Bloomsburg went on an 18-3
run over the next four minutes to take a lead they would never
relinquish.
Tommy Wesner
(Sr./Dillsburg, PA; Northern)
led all scorers in the game with 21 points, including five
three-pointers. Matt Stackhouse (Jr./Hughesville, PA:
Hughesville) added 19 points while pulling down a game-high 11
rebounds. L.J. Huggler (Jr./St, Marys, PA; St. Marys) and Brad
Musser (Fr./Mifflinburg, PA; Mifflinburg) chipped in 15 and 11
points, respectively. Shaun Morris (So./Camp Hill, PA; Trinity)
led the squad with six assists, while scoring seven points.
Jason Benson
(Jr./Pittsburgh, PA; Schenley)
led the Huskies with 20 points. Adam Bohman (Sr./Sussex, NJ;
Vernon Twp.) added 19, and Tom Barlow (Sr./Dresher, PA;
Upper Dublin) chipped in 18 markers.
The
Warriors play again on Wednesday, December 4, when they travel to
Wilkes University for their first conference contest. Tip-off for
the men will be at approximately 8 p.m.
