DOMINATE AGGIES ON HARDWOOD
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team hosted
Delaware Valley College in the second game of a Freedom Conference
doubleheader, Saturday afternoon. The Warriors tool control of the
game early and never looked back en route to an 84-64 win over the
Aggies. The victory improves Lycoming’s overall record to 12-6
and their conference mark to 5-3. Delaware Valley falls to 5-14
and 0-8.
The Aggies hit
a three-pointer to open the game, but the Warriors made the next
two field goals and Delaware Valley never led again. A combination
of hot shooting and solid defense allowed Lycoming to pull ahead
by as many as 14 in the opening half and carry a nine-point
advantage into the locker room.
In the second
half the Warriors continued to pour it on, outscoring the Aggies
14-2 in the first five minutes of the period. Lycoming’s lead
grew as high as 29 before both coaches cleared their benches and
the Warriors cruised to the 20-point victory.
Four players
reached double figures in scoring for Lycoming, led by Tommy
Wesner’s (Jr./Dillsburg, PA; Northern) 21 points. He also
recorded six assists and six steals. Chris Napier (Sr./Port
Jervis, NY; Minisink Valley) added 20 points on the strength
of five three-pointers. Matt Stackhouse (So./Hughesville, PA;
Hughesville) led all players with nine rebounds while dumping
in 18 points from the paint. Jason Black (Sr./Duncannon, PA;
Susquenita) chipped in 17 points, including four baskets from
beyond the arc.
The Warriors
return to action on Wednesday, January 30, when they travel to
Wilkes University. Tip-off for the game will be at approximately 8
p.m. following the women’s half of the doubleheader.
