LYCOMING’S
STACKHOUSE NAMED MAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA – Lycoming College sophomore Matt Stackhouse (Hughesville,
PA; Hughesville) has been named the Middle Atlantic Freedom
Conference Player of the Week for his performance in leading the
Warriors to their first conference championship.
Stackhouse was
instrumental in Lycoming’s championship run, averaging 19.5
points and 8.5 rebounds during the conference tournament last
week. The 6’7” center turned in a dominating effort on
Wednesday versus Scranton, leading all players with 26 points and
12 rebounds. He also blocked three shots in the Warriors’ 70-67
semifinal victory. On Saturday, Stackhouse scored 13 points and
grabbed five rebounds in the team’s 72-64 win over King’s in
the title game. His presence inside keyed Lycoming’s perimeter
attack on offense.
For the season,
Stackhouse is averaging 13.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest.
He also leads the team with 48 blocked shots. Just one more
blocked shot will give him the program’s single-season record.
The
Warriors (19-7) also earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division
III National playoffs with the conference championship. They will
travel to Gettysburg College for their first-round game Thursday
evening at 7 p.m.
