WARRIOR MEN’S BASKETBALL TOPS RIVAL SUSQUEHANNA

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team used a 12-2 run midway through the second period to pull away from regional rival Susquehanna University. The Warriors outscored the Crusaders 47-27 in the second half to secure the comfortable 19-point victory. Lycoming improves to 4-1 with the win. Susquehanna falls to 2-2.

The first half was back-and-forth with five lead changes and six ties as both teams looked for an advantage. The Crusaders notched the final bucket of the period to carry a one-point lead into the locker room.

The Warriors began to take control midway through the second half building a seven-point advantage with 10 minutes to play. Susquehanna, however, kept reeling Lycoming back in to keep the game close. The home team finally pulled away with a 12-2 run over a three-minute span. Tommy Wesner (Jr./Dillsburg, PA; Northern) sparked the run accounting for all 10 of his points in the game on a pair of three-pointers and four free throws. The Crusaders would get no closer the rest of the way, as the Warriors cruised to their fourth win of the season.

Chris Napier (Sr./Port Jervis, NY; Minisink Valley) led Lycoming in both points and rebounds with 16 markers and 10 boards. Jason Black (Sr./Duncannon, PA; Susquenita) added nine points and seven rebounds. Coming off the bench freshman Curtis Mays (Philadelphia, PA; University City) chipped in nine points and senior Rob Johnson (Bradley Beach, NJ; Manasquan) contributed eight points and five assists.

The Warriors play their next game at home on Wednesday, Dec. 5, when they open their Freedom Conference schedule with defending champion Wilkes University. Tip-off will be at 8 p.m. following the women’s game at 6 p.m.
