MEN’S BASKETBALL NIPS MISERICORDIA IN OVERTIME
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The Lycoming College men’s basketball team moved their
record to 3-0 on the season with a non-conference win over College
Misericordia, Tuesday evening. The Warriors needed overtime to put
the Cougars away 82-77. Misericordia falls to 1-2 with the loss.
The
Cougars carried a 35-34 lead into the locker room after a
back-and-forth opening period. The second half proved to be more
of the same as neither team could take control of the contest.
With the score tied at 68 with 44 seconds to play, both teams had
the opportunity to win the game but neither could put the ball in
the hoop.
In
overtime, Lycoming built a four-point lead with a minute to play
on field goals by Jason Black (Sr./Duncannon, PA; Susquenita)
and Chris Napier (Sr./Port Jervis, NY; Minisink Valley).
Black then sealed the game by going 6-for-6 from the charity
stripe the rest of the way.
Napier
was the Warriors’ leading scorer with 21 points. He also pulled
down eight rebounds. Thomas Wesner (Jr./Dillsburg, PA;
Northern) added 18 points – all on three-point field goals.
Black scored 14 while leading the team with five assists. Matt
Stackhouse (So./Hughesville, PA; Hughesville) led the squad
with 12 rebounds while chipping in 12 points and a pair of blocked
shots.
Lycoming
will be at home again for their next contest on Monday, November
26 versus Alvernia College. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. in Lamade
Gymnasium.
