MEN’S BASKETBALL ADVANCES TO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME OF CHOWAN
SHOOTOUT

NC – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team defeated host
Chowan College in the opening game of the Chowan Shootout, 87-79,
Friday evening. The victory improves the Warriors’ record to 7-1
on the season and advances them on to the championship game of the
holiday tournament to be played at 3 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. The
Braves fall to 3-5 with the loss.
Lycoming
took control of the game early building a 10-point lead by
halftime. The Warriors held on to the lead in the second half by
shooting 52% from the field and 70% from the free-throw line.
Jason
Black (Sr./Duncannon, PA; Susquenita) led the Warriors with 20
points in the contest. He also grabbed six rebounds and tallied
three assists. Freshman Curtis Mays (Philadelphia, PA;
University City) had a breakout game, scoring a career-high 18
points and leading the team with eight rebounds. Tommy Wesner
(Jr./Dillsburg, PA; Northern) also scored 18 markers on the
strength of five three-point baskets. Senior Chris Napier
(Sr./Port Jervis, NY; Minisink Valley) chipped in 12 points
and eight boards.
For
the game, Lycoming shot 47% from the field, including 50% from
behind the arc, and out-rebounded Chowan 46-36. The Warriors will
play the winner of the Wesley – Virginia Wesleyan game in the
tournament’s championship game.
