LYCOMING DOMINATES DELAWARE VALLEY IN FINAL HOME GAME OF THE SEASON

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College football team scored 30 points in the second quarter en route to a 51-12 victory over Delaware Valley College, Saturday afternoon. The Warriors never trailed in the game as Head Coach Frank Girardi picked up his 225th career win.

Tim Deasey (Sr./Norwood, PA; Interboro) broke Lycoming’s career rushing mark carrying the ball 22 times for 86 yards in the game. He now has 2,626 yards for his career. Joe Feerrar (Sr./Jersey Shore, PA; Jersey Shore) threw five touchdown passes in the game, completing 15-of-17 pass attempts for 223 yards. Tom Zulkowski (Sr./Frackville, PA; Cardinal Brennan) was his favorite receiver with six catches for 84 yards and a pair of scores. Kyle Bingaman (Sr./Lykens, PA; Upper Dauphin), Chris Dauber (Sr./Jersey Shore, PA; Jersey Shore), and Sean Hennigar (So./Philadelphia, PA; Father Judge) also caught touchdown passes for the Warriors.

Duke Greco led Delaware Valley both on the ground and through the air. The senior quarterback ran the ball 10 times for 45 yards and completed 10-of-21 passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Brian Ludwig and Al Glackin caught those scoring passes.

Defensively, Tim Schmidt (So./Philadelphia, PA/Roman Catholic) led Lycoming with six tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery. Adam Allen (Jr./Avis, PA; Jersey Shore) added four unassisted stops. For the Aggies, Andrew Erby led the squad with eight tackles on the afternoon.

The Warriors opened the scoring on their opening drive marching 57 yards on nine plays. Feerrar found Zulkowski from seven yards out for the score.

Delaware Valley answered with an impressive drive of their own covering 79 yards in 14 plays, culminating in a three-yard pass from Greco to Glackin.

From there Lycoming took charge of the game, scoring on their next six possessions to build a 44-6 halftime lead. Feerrar connected with Dauber from 35 yards out, Bingaman from seven yards out and Hennigar from 28 yards out on three consecutive series making the score 28-6 in favor of Lycoming. Dave Christensen (Jr./Fairless Hills, PA; Pennsbury) then split the uprights with a 30-yard field goal to push the tally to 31-6. Zulkowski caught his second touchdown of the game to make it 38-6 and senior fullback Bob Workman (Minersville, PA; Minersville) plowed into the end zone from four yards out to add the final six points of the half.

The Warriors added one more score in the second half as Deasey went in from the 2-yard line following a fumbled punt reception by the Aggies.

Delaware Valley recorded their second touchdown late in the fourth quarter on a 16-yard pass from Greco to Ludwig.

Lycoming will complete their regular season on the road next weekend traveling to Juniata College for a one o’clock kickoff. Delaware Valley will return home to host FDU-Madison.
