SCHMIDT NAMED MAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Lycoming College defensive back Tim Schmidt (So./Philadelphia, PA; Roman Catholic) has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance last Saturday against Kings. Schmidt led all tacklers in the game with 11stops – eight solo and three assisted. He also broke up a pass and forced a fumble. As a group, the Warrior secondary allowed the Monarchs just 87 yards passing.

“I’ve been working really hard, trying to help the team in any way that I can,” said Schmidt. “I’m glad that I’ve been able to make a contribution.”

Schmidt has compiled 14 tackles, several for a loss of yardage, and has also forced two fumbles in the first three games of the season. 

The Warriors are off to a fast start, 3-0 overall and within the MAC. Their stingy defense has set the tone for the season, shutting out Lebanon Valley 40-0 in week one, then clamping down on Susquehanna and Kings the past two weeks. Lycoming had steadily climbed the coaches’ poll all season. They are now ranked 16^th in the nation.
