LYCOMING’S
RUPPRECHT NAMED HEWLETT-PACKARD ALL-AMERICAN
BROCKPORT,
N.Y. – Lycoming College senior linebacker Ryan Rupprecht
(Southampton, PA; Archbishop Wood) has been named to the
Hewlett-Packard NCAA Division III All-American Team as an
honorable mention selection. A total of 114 players from 73
schools across the country were named to the 2001 team.
Rupprecht was
one of only three returning starters on the Warriors’ defense at
the start of the 2001 campaign. He led that inexperienced unit to
become the top defense in the conference by season’s end,
ranking first in total defense, scoring defense, and passing
defense, and third in rushing defense.
Twice named to
the MAC’s weekly honor roll, Rupprecht led Lycoming with 78
tackles, six sacks, and 23 tackles-for-a-loss. He also defended
seven passes and recovered two fumbles, including one for a
touchdown. He completed his collegiate career with 245 total
tackles. Rupprecht was honored by the Middle Atlantic Conference
as a first-team all-star for the second consecutive season.
The
24th annual Hewlett-Packard All-American Team was
selected by a panel of 30 sports information directors
representing the four playoff regions in NCAA Division III.
