Warriors Receive All-Conference Recognition              Two Make First Team, Two Make Second Team

Mike MonastraWILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Four members of Lycoming’s football team were named all-conference for 2006.   The MAC recognized placekicker Mike Monastra (Havertown, PA) and offensive lineman Jim Williams (Slatington, PA) as first team all-conference, while wide receiver Tony Kopp (St. Mary’s, PA) and defensive back Tim Mahoney (Southampton, PA) made the second team.

Monastra, a sophomore, led all MAC kickers with ten field goals for the season, including a 43-yarder versus FDU-Florham on September 30. Monastra was named MAC Special Teams Player of the Week after the FDU-Florham game, in which he scored 11 points in a 23-14 win. He also kicked three field goals against Lebanon Valley, October 21.

Jim WilliamsWilliams, a senior, anchored the Warriors offensive line from the center position. He led by example through hard work and was a constant force in a unit that saw some shuffling throughout the year.

Kopp, also a senior, was fifth in the MAC in receptions and receiving yards per game. He averaged nearly four catches and 60 yards each week, while pulling in four touchdown catches all year. Kopp led Lycoming in receiving in five games, including a six catch, 122-yard effort against FDU-Florham. In that game he had a season long 64-yard touchdown reception. His yards per catch average was 15.1.

Mahoney, a senior, played strong all season, but really emerged in the final five games of the season. His ability to stuff the run and cover receivers downfield made him an exceptional force in the secondary. Mahoney compiled 58 tackles and an interception on the year, and led the Warriors in tackles in three different games.
