Football Releases 2006 Recruiting Class WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- The 2005 season for Lycoming College football was exciting to say the least. Finishing on a five-game winning streak culminated by the 250th career victory for head coach Frank Girardi gave the Warriors a chance to hit the off-season running, eager to continue their run through to the next campaign. The anticipation for the upcoming season led to an outstanding recruitment period for the blue and gold as the Warriors are proud to announce the 2006 freshman recruiting class. Six individuals local to the Williamsport area comprise 34 of the in-state athletes the Warriors will be adding to their roster. Central Mountain High School is well-represented with wide receiver Brad Shellenberger (37 rec., 793 yds., 12 TD), quarterback Blake Barth (1,138 yds., 13 TD), and kicker Kyle Miller (32 pts., 23 xp’s, 3 fgs.) selecting Lycoming. Fullback Brett Lorson from South Williamsport High School, offensive lineman Nick Calvert from Williamsport Area High School, and defensive end Ryan Newhart from Hughesville High school round out the local contingent. The 2006 class also includes one out of state athlete. Nick Tessener from Millbrook High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, will work his way in as a linebacker. “I’m very happy with the local talent we’ve been able to recruit,” said Coach Girardi. “I feel they’ll fit well into the Lycoming style of football. Overall, I like the athleticism and skill level of this class. We have helped ourselves in the areas where we felt we needed depth.” Below is a complete listing of the 2006 Lycoming College Football Recruiting Class.
