WARRIOR FOOTBALL FAVORED TO
REPEAT AT MAC CHAMPIONS
CAMP HILL, Pa. – The
Lycoming College football team was chosen as the favorite to
repeat at champions of the Middle Atlantic Conference according
to the preseason coaches’ poll released today at the MAC
Football Media Luncheon held in Camp Hill, Pa.
The Warriors, who finished
the 2003 season with a record of 9-2 overall after advancing to
the quarterfinals of the NCAA playoffs, received six of the 11
first-place votes and a total of 96 points. Lycoming was picked
first or second on every ballot.
The Warriors will be
seeking their 30th consecutive winning season and
their 14th MAC title entering the 2004 campaign.
Lycoming returns a total of 13 starters, including All-American
linebacker Luke Sterling (Jr./Lehighton, Pa.; Lehighton)
and all-conference quarterback Phil Mann (Sr./Mill Hall, Pa.;
Central Mountain).
The Warriors report to
preseason camp on August 18, and open the season on September
11, at King’s College.
