LYCOMING COLLEGE
FOOTBALL RANKED 14TH BY
STREET & SMITH’S
WILLIAMSPORT, PA
– The 2003 Lycoming College football team has been ranked 14th
in Street & Smith’s Division III preseason top-25
poll. The poll is part of the Street & Smith’s 2003
College Football National Preview and is the first preseason
poll released for Division III.
The Warriors
return 14 starters and 26 letterwinners from last season’s 6-3
squad. Key veterans on the offensive side of the ball include
junior quarterback Phil Mann (Mill Hall, PA; Central Mountain),
who was 6-1 in his first season as a starter, senior center Matt
Mendola (Dunmore, PA; Dunmore), and the entire starting
receiving corps. On defense, four starters are back, including
last year’s leading tackler Luke Sterling (So./Lehighton, PA;
Lehighton) at linebacker and free-safety Brian Kaspick
(Jr./Clearfield, PA; Clearfield).
Lycoming is one
of just two Middle Atlantic Conference teams in the top-25.
Widener University is ranked 22nd by the magazine.
Wilkes University is one of 14 institutions listed in the “Best
of the Rest” section of the article. This is the eighth
consecutive year that the Warriors have been ranked in the
preseason top-25 by Street & Smith’s.
