FOOTBALL PLACES TEN STUDENT-ATHLETES ON
ALL-CONFERENCE
TEAM
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA – The Middle Atlantic Conference announced the 2003 football
all-conference teams, Tuesday morning. Lycoming College claimed 10
student-athletes in all – six on the first team and four on the
second team.
First-team
members:
Ricky
Lannetti – Sr. – WR – Philadelphia, Pa. – Father Judge H.S.

Lannetti has been the
Warriors’ top receiver this season. Through nine games he has
caught a school-record 65 passes for 915 yards and five
touchdowns. He ranked third in the conference in receptions and
fifth in receiving yards during the regular season. Lannetti was
also named to the all-conference second-team as a kick returner.
He returned 25 punts for Lycoming in 2003, averaging 10.5 yards
per attempt. He also returned 18 kickoffs for an average of 21.8
yards per return.
Matt Mendola
– Sr. – OL – Dunmore, Pa. – Dunmore H.S.

Mendola is the anchor of
an experienced Warrior offensive line. Playing at center during
his first three seasons, Mendola moved to left tackle this season
to help protect the quarterback’s blind side. The move has been
effective, as Lycoming’s front five have only allowed 16 sacks
in 302 pass attempts – the second fewest in the MAC.
Chris
Schrader – Fr. – K – Glenolden, Pa. – Monsignor Bonner H.S.

Schrader has brought consistency to the Warriors’ kicking
game this season. He has successfully converted 31-of-34
extra-point attempts and 7-of-12 field goal attempts, including a
long of 42 yards. He is Lycoming’s leading scorer with 52 points
on the season, an average of 5.8 per game – tied for the
conference lead among kickers.
Sean
McGinley – Sr. – DE – Croydon, Pa. – Conwell-Egan H.S.

McGinley moved to defensive end during preseason camp after
spending three seasons as a tight end on the Warriors’ offense.
The move has been a major factor in Lycoming’s success this
season. McGinley leads the Warriors and the conference with 10.5
sacks this season – an average of more than one per game. He is
also third on the squad with 50 total tackles, including 18 behind
the line-of-scrimmage.
Luke
Sterling – So. – LB – Lehighton, Pa. – Lehighton Area H.S.

Sterling was Lycoming’s leading tackler as a freshman and
has become a true playmaker for the Warriors as a sophomore. He
ranks second on the team with 54 total tackles and second in sacks
with 7.5. He also has defended eight passes, including one
interception; has forced two fumbles; and has recovered a
conference-high four fumbles, including one for a touchdown.
Brian
Kaspick – Jr. – DB – Clearfield, Pa. – Clearfield H.S.

Kaspick is the leader of Lycoming’s secondary – a unit
that has intercepted 23 passes and broken up a total of 80 passes
this season. Kaspick himself has accounted for four interceptions
and seven break-ups. He also provides hard-hitting run support to
the tune of 36 total tackles.
Second-team
members:
Phil Mann
– Jr. – QB – Mill Hall, Pa. – Central Mountain H.S.

Mann is the heart and soul of the Warrior offense. He has
completed 161-of-285 passes for 2,244 yards and 15 touchdowns this
season. He has also run for 255 yards and seven touchdowns on 85
carries to account for nearly 280 yards of total offense per game.
Mann ranks second in the conference in passing yards and total
offense, and third in passing efficiency. In just his second
season as a starter, Mann has compiled an impressive record of 14
wins and just two losses.
Dickie Houck
– Sr. – OL – Bethlehem, Pa. – Bethlehem Catholic H.S.

Houck is a key member of Lycoming’s offensive line at the
right guard position. In addition to helping protect the
quarterback, Houck has helped lead a running game that has
steadily improved late in the season. After averaging just 108
yards rushing per game through the first five games of the season,
the Warriors have averaged 163 yards on the ground in each of
their last four contests, including a 208-yard effort versus
Susquehanna last Saturday.
Garrett
Zoschg – Sr. – DE – Emporium, Pa. – Cameron County H.S.

Zoschg is the bookend opposite McGinley that has helped
Lycoming put pressure on opposing quarterbacks and made it
difficult for teams to run outside the tackles versus the
Warriors. Zoschg has recorded 21 total tackles and 5.5 sacks in
2003.
Tim Schmidt – Sr. – LB –
Philadelphia, Pa. – Roman Catholic H.S.

Schmidt is Lycoming’s leading tackler with 62 stops on
the season, including one sack and eight tackles-for-a-loss. He
has also defended a total of 12 passes, including two
interceptions.
