All-Middle Atlantic Conference honorees from Lycoming:
Jared Morris
(Sr./Canton, PA; Canton) – 1st team running back
Morris was the Warriors’ leading rusher during the 2002
season. He carried the ball 159 times for 1,005 yards and scored
11 rushing touchdowns in nine games for Lycoming. He also caught
11 passes for 71 yards and one score. Morris recorded six 100-yard
games during the season, including a 200-yard game last Saturday
in his final collegiate appearance. Following the Warriors’ win
over Albright College on October, 26, Morris was named to the
d3football.com Team of the Week and was also named the MAC
Offensive Player of the Week.
Jon Neve
(Sr./Norristown, PA; Germantown Academy) – 1st team
fullback
Neve was the Warriors second-leading rusher and the lead
blocker for Morris. In nine games, he carried the ball 105 times
for 534 yards and seven touchdowns. He also caught eight passes
for 69 yards and two touchdowns. Neve was known for his bruising
style both when running with the ball and when clearing the path
for Morris. He opened the season with three consecutive 100-yard
games before suffering an ankle injury that hampered him the
remainder of the year.
Matt Mendola
(Jr./Dunmore, PA; Dunmore) – 1st team center
Mendola anchored the front line that cleared the way for
Morris, Neve, and Lycoming’s other running backs. The Warriors
rushed for more than 200 yards per game in 2002, averaging nearly
five yards per carry. Three times Lycoming ran for more than 300
yards in a game. Lycoming’s offensive line also allowed just 16
sacks in 209 passing attempts this season. Mendola and the rest of
the offensive line were named to the d3football.com Team of the
Week following the Warriors’ win over Susquehanna. In that game,
the offensive line enabled both Morris and Neve to rush for more
than 100 yards for the third consecutive game. Mendola was named
to the all-conference second-team last year, in his first season
as a starter.
Chris Roantree
(Sr./Philadelphia, PA; Father Judge) – 1st team
defensive line
Roantree, one of the
team’s co-captains, was Lycoming’s second-leading tackler in
2002, recording 48 stops on the season. He also led the team in
both sacks and tackles-for-a-loss with five and 16 respectively.
With Roantree’s leadership up front, the Warrior defense limited
opponents to less than 100 yards rushing in six games this season.
Roantree also excels off the field, recently being named to the
Verizon Academic All-District II team for the second consecutive
year.
Matt Henrich
(Sr./Huntingdon, PA; Huntingdon) – 1st team defensive
back
Henrich was the leader
of a defensive secondary that led the MAC in pass defense,
allowing just 139.9 passing yards per game. He intercepted four
passes on the season and defended a total of eight pass attempts
while also recording 36 tackles. In Lycoming’s season opening
win at Delaware Valley, Henrich intercepted three passes to earn
player of the week honors in the MAC and also be named to the
d3football.com Team of the Week. Last season, Henrich was a
second-team all-conference selection.
Steff
Chortanoff (Sr./Middletown, PA; Middletown) – honorable mention
linebacker
Chortanoff was the
Warriors’ fifth leading tackler in 2002. Leading the linebacking
corps, Chortanoff recorded 41 tackles, including six behind the
line of scrimmage. He also broke up a pair of passes.
