WARRIOR
FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES 2002 RECRUITING CLASS
WILLIAMSPORT,
PA The Lycoming College football program recently completed
its recruiting efforts for the 2002 season and is proud to
announce a class of 31 freshmen will be joining the team in the
fall.
Five local
student-athletes are included in the group of newcomers. Eric
Hackenberg, of Selinsgrove and a graduate of Selinsgrove High
School, will compete for playing time as Lycomings featured
running back. Jared Maurer, of Muncy and a graduate of
Muncy High School, hopes to join the teams linebacking corps. Brock
Nearhoof, also of Muncy and a graduate of Muncy High School,
will compete for playing time as a running back. Ryan Romanoski,
of Shamokin and a graduate of Shamokin Area High School, could
help the team as either a quarterback or defensive back. Tony
Threet, of Mifflinburg and a graduate of Mifflinburg Area High
School, will compete for playing time on the Warriors offensive
line.
We are very
happy with our recruiting class for the upcoming season. We feel
that we addressed some needs for the future, especially by adding
depth along the offensive and defensive lines, said Lycoming
head coach Frank Girardi. We also added some very athletic
players that will help our team in a variety of ways this year and
throughout their four years at Lycoming. Overall, the coaching
staff is very pleased with the incoming class and we look forward
to seeing how they perform when they arrive at camp in the
fall.
