Budd Whitehill
Inducted
in 1993 |
| Budd started
the Warrior wrestling program in 1956 and was its only coach for 37
seasons. He led the Warriors to a dual-match record of 376-173-5
during his tenure, including 34 winning seasons and 10 Middle
Atlantic Conference Championships. His 376 victories ranked third
all-time among NCAA Division III coaches at the time of his death in
1993 and eighth among coaches in all divisions. His 37 years of
continuous service also ranked eight among NCAA coaches. Coach
Whitehill received the Makisu Award in 1993 - given by the Lycoming
College student body to a faculty or staff member for outstanding
service to the college community. In addition to his induction on
Lycoming's Athletic Hall of Fame, Coach Whitehill is a member of the
NCAA Division III Wrestling Hall of Fame, the Pennsylvania
Interscholastic Athletic Association Hall of Fame, the District 4
Wrestling Hall of Fame, and the West Branch Chapter of the
Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
