VEHICLE OPERATOR SAFETY POLICY

I. Purpose

       The purpose of this policy is to heighten awareness of driver safety in
       employees driving College owned or leased, or rented vehicles. Lycoming
       College recognizes the need to provide education on safety belt use, as well
       as ensure that all personnel driving College vehicles are licensed to do so.

II. Driver Selection/Qualification

       Annually, all personnel who drive Lycoming College vehicles will be asked to
       bring their current driver's licenses to the Safety & Security Office to be
       photocopied and maintained on file. Additionally, Motor Vehicle Record
       checks may be conducted.

III. Safety Belt Use

       A safety belt is an important item of personal protective equipment. It is
       vitally important that all employees use safety belts and are aware of the
       State law requiring their usage. Furthermore, Lycoming College has
       implemented the following policy: AVAILABLE SAFETY BELTS SHALL
       BE USED WHILE
TRAVELING ON OFFICIAL BUSINESS. This policy
      applies to all employees of Lycoming College, as well as any other
      occupants of the vehicle.

IV. Traffic Safety

      When using a Lycoming College vehicle, personnel must obey all traffic rules
      and regulations, even when enroute to an emergency. Failure to obey traffic
      signs and speed limits could result in accidental death or injury of
      pedestrians.

V. Property Safety

      Any Lycoming College vehicle left unattended must be kept locked. If an
      accident occurs, resulting in damage to a Lycoming College vehicle, it must
      be reported to the Director of Administrative Services, Long Hall.
