SAFETY AND SECURITY ALERT
October 14, 2008
Tonight (October 14, 2008) shortly before 7:00 pm, an incident occurred in the Skeath parking lot that has prompted this Safety and Security Alert.
A member of the college community walking in the Skeath parking lot was grabbed and the target of attempted robbery. The individual that perpetrated this incident was male and acting alone. Fortunately, no injuries resulted from this encounter.
Any one who may have been in the Skeath parking lot at the time of this incident and saw suspicious activity is asked to contact the Office of Safety and Security (321.4064).
•ALWAYS BE ALERT TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS.
•AVOID CONVERSATIONS WITH STRANGERS. DO NOT APPROACH STRANGERS OR ALLOW THEM TO GET CLOSE TO YOU.
•IF YOU THINK SOMEONE IS FOLLOWING YOU, SWITCH DIRECTIONS. GO TOWARD A SAFE LOCATION.
•IF SOMEONE TRIES TO ROB YOU, DON’T RESIST.
•ALWAYS WALK WITH A FRIEND OR FRIENDS. THERE IS SAFETY IN NUMBERS.
•STAY IN WELL LIGHTED AREAS; AVOID DARK LOCATIONS.
•STAY IN FAMILIAR AREAS. AVOID WALKING OR RIDING IN AREAS IN WHICH YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR.
•REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES, BEHAVIOR OR PEOPLE IMMEDIATELY TO SAFETY AND SECURITY AT 321-4064 OR 4911.
•USE THE CAMPUS ESCORT SERVICE. DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT SAFETY AND SECURITY (321-4064) WHEN AN ESCORT IS DESIRED.
