END OF YEAR CLOSING INFORMATION

Lycoming College Residence Halls and Apartments will close for the 2007-2008 Academic year on Friday, April 25th at 6:00pm.  Meal service ends with lunch.

All resident students are expected to leave campus 24 hours after their last final exam, but no later than 6:00 p.m. on the Friday of finals week. Students who have legitimate reasons for late departure must request permission to do so from the Residential Life Office via an official Request to Stay After Hall Closing

Checking Out of the Residence Halls/Apartments

There are two "proper" check-out methods from which to choose:  Regular Check-out or Express Check-out.  All students must choose one of these methods; regardless of which one is chosen, students must do the following to avoid administrative charges or fines:

  • All College Property must be present and in its original condition.  Residents will be billed repair/replacement costs for damaged or missing items.
  • All Personal Belongings must be removed from the room/apartment at the time of check-out.*
  • All Trash must be removed from the room/apartment and placed in the proper receptacles; if not, a minimum of $50.00 may be billed to the residents.*
  • The Room/Apartment must be reasonably clean and the floor swept;  if not, a minimum of $50.00 may be billed to the residents for cleaning.
  • Room/Apartment  Keys must be returned to Residential Life Staff at time of check-out.  Residents who fail to return keys will be billed $35-$50.00 to change the lock cylinder and replace keys.

Failure to follow proper check-out procedures may result in an additional $50 fine.

*Helpful note:  Lycoming College Community Service Center will be sponsoring a "Trash to Treasure" collection during finals/check-out week.  All items collected will be donated directly to American Rescue Workers.  Drop-off locations for large items are:

Behind Williams Hall

Between East and Wesley Halls

South Side of Skeath Hall

1) REGULAR CHECK-OUT

To choose this option each resident will need to schedule an appointment with the appropriate Residential Life Staff (RA, House Manager or SLC) to check-out of the room/apartment. Please scheule this appointment  a minimum of 24 hours before leaving campus and remember, RAs and House Managers are students as well and must schedule around study time and exams.  Last minute check-out requests cannot always be honored and the resident may have no choice but to do an Express Check-Out if an appointment has not been scheduled.

Since the resident is to be leaving campus shortly after the Check-out appointment, the RA, House Manager or SLC will do an initial inspection for damages and an inventory of College property, note any damages on the RCR/ACR and collect the resident's key(s).  Both resident and staff member will sign the paperwork and the resident will receive a copy.

  • If possible, all roommates should be present during the review of the room.
  • Damage or cleaning charges will be split evenly between all residents in a room/apartment unless the RA, House  Manager or SLC is informed differently at check-out.

A final inspection will be done at a later date by a Residential Life Professional Staff member; assessment for billing purposes will be done at that time.

2) EXPRESS CHECK-OUT

When choosing this option residents will NOT need to schedule an appointment with a(n) RA, House Manager or SLC to check-out of the room/apartment.  However, the resident will forfeit the right to appeal damage/ cleaning charges which may be assessed and billed to the student account.

To check-out using this option, residents must obtain an Express Check-out form from a(n) RA, House Manager or SLC (also available in the Res Life Office.)  Follow all instructions on this form, sign and return to the proper staff - RA, House Manager, SLC - along with room/apartment key(s) in the envelope provided

Do not leave paperwork and/or key(s) in the room/apartment or with a friend/roommate.  Room/apartments will be inspected by staff at a later time.
