Dr. Knauth has been teaching at Lycoming College since 1999. Her academic specialties and interests include Old Testament, archaeology, ancient Near Eastern history and literature, Biblical and ancient Near Eastern law, and Hebrew. She has dug at archaeological excavations in Israel (Ashkelon and Gezer), Cyprus (Idalion), and locally in Pennsylvania (Canfield Island, Snyder, and Muncy Canal). She also serves as Director for our Program in Archaeology and Culture of the Ancient Near East .
A native of rural northern Wisconsin, Dr. Knauth enjoys hiking, canoeing, rowing, cross-country skiing, and singing with the Trinity Church Choir, where she is the cantor for evensong services. She has two sons in elementary school - Alexander and William. Her husband Geoffrey does computer software development, and is currently teaching courses in computer science.
