Most Influential Professor: Dr. Beery and my sister Amanda have kept in touch since her graduation, so I knew she was a professor I wanted to connect with when I got to campus. She has a genuine interest in getting to know her students and that doesn't stop when you graduate.
Favorite Part of Class: I enjoy the fact that classes aren't all lectures – they have more of a hands-on approach. In the first psychology class I had, Dr. Beery brought in candy and bells to demonstrate Pavlov's Classical Conditioning Theory.
Getting Involved: I've been cheerleading for years, so I knew I wanted to cheer at Lycoming. It's a wonderful break from studying! Cheerleading is the perfect addition to any major, especially if you are interested in coaching someday.
Advice: If you have even the slightest interest in psychology and/or education, take a psychology and education class your first year here – you'll see how these two subjects work together to create the perfect combination.

Most Influential Professor: During my first week on campus I talked to Dr. Beery about my interests and she directed me to Dr. Gilbertson. She and I share similar interests and we're both new to Lycoming. She's helped me learn the best way to comprehend every aspect of scholarly articles. Dr. Gilbertson is also responsible for bringing a new electroencephalogram (EEG) to campus – that will give me more opportunities for my research.
Favorite Part of Class: I'm really looking forward to the arrival of the EEG. One of the reasons I decided to go into the psychology field was because of my interest in sleep studies.
Advice: Get involved. If you come in and talk to the professors about what you enjoy, you can work your way into the hands-on research immediately.
