I’m Jordan Ardo. I’m a junior working on a psychology major and a biology minor. I hail from the pizza capitol of the world, Old Forge, Pennsylvania. If you’ve never been to Old Forge (near Scranton), it’s a great road trip. Put it on your lifetime ‘must-do’ list.
My friends tell me I’m one of the few who always knew what they wanted to do. Since my days in high school, my plan was to go to college and prepare for a career in some field of public service. A psychology major is a natural choice for me because I enjoy working with people and helping them in any way I can. My plan is to continue my education in a graduate program, preferably clinical psychology. A psych major is a valuable undergraduate degree, but if one wants to make diagnoses and offer treatment, a graduate degree is a must.
I’m confident Lycoming's psychology program has and will continue to provide me with the knowledge I will need to be successful in the field. My professors, several of whom also have clinical practices, bring the curriculum alive by bringing their own experiences to the classroom. Another benefit of being a psych major is having access to the Psychology Practicum. This is Lycoming’s year-long internship program. It offers over 20 different internships in the Williamsport area.
Lycoming has also given me the opportunity to participate in all types of organizations. I currently teach jazz dance. Can you believe it? Check out this cool site for more info: www.lycoming.edu/orgs/danceclub/. I’m also Vice President of Psi Chi (National Honor Society in Psychology), a member of the Psychology Club, and a Resident Advisor in Skeath (one of the freshman dorms). We do keep busy at Lycoming.
