Biology and Chemistry, 2013
Activities: Pre-Health Society, United Campus Ministries (UCM)
Hometown: Roaring Spring, Pa.
High School: Central High School
Most Influential Professor: In addition to fueling my coffee habits, Dr. Newman has also fueled my interest in biology. Soon after I got here, I found out that his research would ultimately lead to a new species of bacteria. That was definitely something I wanted to get involved in.
Favorite Part of Class: I’m in Heim more than the professors are (so they say). Must be that florescent microscope, or maybe the brand new instruments we got from the National Science Foundation. Best part? At Lycoming, you can get your hands on this equipment right away.
Getting Involved: I’m involved in a few organizations on campus, but overall, getting involved at Lycoming means a family feel. There’s nothing quite like it. You have your family within your major, and then your organization families.
Advice: Study hard – professors notice your grades. Do your homework – find out which professors are doing research on topics that match your interests, then, get to know them and find out how you can assist them in their research.
