Most Influential Professor: Dr. Hawkes has probably influenced me the most while at Lycoming, because while his classes are challenging, the hard work really pays off in the end. He is a wonderful writer himself and really strives to elevate his students’ writing.  I’ve definitely learned the most from him.

Favorite Part of Class: The workshops may be intimidating, but they have been the most influential when it comes to learning about writing. Most of the time, the creative writing classes are smaller in size so the workshops allow the students to get a more in-depth look at how to improve their work. I’ve learned so many things regarding writing, editing, and critiquing, and I strongly recommend taking a workshop class if you’re seeking to advance your writing skills.

Favorite Campus Event: Relay For Life in the spring is my favorite event because it allows the entire campus to get together for such a great cause. I love seeing all of the stands set up from each organization, and the activities that occur throughout the night are always a blast. Plus, there is a sense of accomplishment if you manage to stay the whole night!

Advice for Students: Go where your heart tells you! I know that sounds cheesy, but for me, Lycoming just felt right. And, if you’re a writer, no matter what, never stop writing!
