Most influential professor: Dr. Melvin Zimmerman has put in forty years here at Lycoming College and still continues to passionately teach biology every single day. Zimm has the most outstanding reputation among the biology community and has sacrificed countless time and effort for all of us under his guidance.

Favorite class experience: A consistent favorite of mine is the unique and fun labs that biology majors conduct on a weekly basis.

My big college moment: My biggest college moment was getting a 106% on my first ever college biology exam in Dr. Morrison’s 110 class as a freshman. This led to her offering me a position in her mouse research lab which was my first real practical experience as a biologist. Thanks to the opportunity she gave me I was able to receive an internship the summer after my freshman year getting a head start toward a future career in biology.

Advice for incoming students: I would tell any incoming students to really immerse themselves in the tight knit community that Lycoming College has to offer. This is the friendliest campus I have ever had the pleasure of stepping foot on. Being from right across the river and an avid outdoorsman, I also would encourage all incoming students to explore the endless outdoor activities the area provides.
