Eileen Peluso initially joined the Lycoming faculty to teach computer science and applied discrete mathematics courses full-time. Her current scholarship focuses on computer science education in grades K-12 and its relationship to gender issues in the discipline. She also continues to review papers written by peers throughout the U.S. on this topic to provide expert guidance before eventual publication.
In 2003, she transitioned to the position of Associate Provost for Assessment, where she is responsible for managing the College’s accreditation activities. In this role, she also serves as the College’s academic liaison officer to its accrediting body, the Middle States Association. She continues to teach computer science and mathematics classes part-time.
Peluso spent the first thirteen years of her career working as a software engineer for businesses before furthering her education. Her area of specialty for her Ph.D. was formal language and automata theory and its application to process modeling. Her background and love for programming continue to influence her interests.
Peluso, a native of the Williamsport area, received the College’s Junior Faculty Teaching Award in 2005. Her publications and professional associations and affiliations can be found on her web page.
