Dr. Briggs joined the Lycoming College faculty in 1992 as the departmental botanist. She teaches Plant Science for majors, in addition to teaching first-year majors and non-majors. Her specialty is in Medicinal and Poisonous Plants.

Dr. Briggs has also been involved in the Lycoming College Scholars program since 1994, and took over the role of Program Director in 2002.

Maybe it's just an occupational hazard of being a botanist, because when she has some spare time, Michelle likes to spend it in her perennial garden, encouraging young things to grow. Come to think of it, that's why she likes teaching, too.
