Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit
After Lycoming, I graduated magna cum laude from the Dickinson School of Law in 1978.
I was later named to the federal bench of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania in 1994, and served as chief judge of the district from 1999 to 2006.
I was then nominated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit by President Obama in August 2009.
While at Lycoming, I graduated magna cum laude and also received Lycoming’s Chieftain Award. I later received Lycoming’s Outstanding Achievement Award in 2000 and was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 1994 for my success on the football field.
