Character performer through Disney College Program at Walt Disney World, Orlando, Fla.
Performing and the arts – it’s in my blood. I can’t wait to see the behind-the-scenes of the entertainment industry – I want to be a part of that. Performing is something I love, but I also want to stage manage; that’s my passion in theatre.
I stumbled upon Lyco by chance and after just one visit, I knew it was the only school for me. One of the reasons I chose Lycoming was because of the Theatre Department. In high school, I came from a drama department that was like a family, and I wanted that same experience in college. The faculty and students involved in the Theatre Department here were so helpful and made me feel at home right away. At Lycoming, you aren't just a number where professors don’t know who you are.
When I was a kid, I went to Disney and walked into the Magic Kingdom and said, ‘this is my home.’ I remembered all the cast members who gave me a magical experience when I was a kid and I want to give those memories to others.
Dr. N.J. Stanley, associate professor of theatre, also has been extremely supportive. In talking with J., I felt prepared. I knew what I had to do.
Without a doubt, if anyone is pursuing something they love, don’t give up! If you love something that much, you should fight for that in your life.
