Position Profile

Long Hall

The Lycoming Board of Trustees announces the search for the College’s 15th president and the Search Committee encourages expressions of interest, nominations, and applications for the presidency of one of the country’s most compelling independent liberal arts colleges. The search is launched as Dr. James Douthat begins his 24th and final year as president, having led Lycoming through a financially transformative era to a place of distinctive strength and enviable equilibrium. In short, Lycoming has emerged as a national model for meticulous strategic thinking and creative fiscal planning. The next president will accept responsibility for an excellent undergraduate college eager to enrich its academic offerings, explore new initiatives, and enhance its public profile, while engaging its people and programs in framing a vision for the future.

At a moment when increasing challenges speak to the welfare of all of higher education, Lycoming has practiced careful and disciplined planning to anticipate these challenges with uncompromised clarity. As a result, the College faces its future from a foundation of historical success and financial stability, and is poised to “step out” on many fronts. Lycoming offers an uncommon opportunity for leadership in an established, residential, liberal arts, undergraduate college of substantial character and promise.
