Why join Lambda Chi Alpha?

Lambda Chi Alpha is a social fraternity based on timeless precepts.  Our purpose is to cultivate a progressive environment at every chapter that will allow men to become better men through the help their fellow man.  Through the environment of a close knit brotherhood of diverse members, Lambda Chi Alpha strives to give its men a developmental framework to mature and to become men capable of bettering society. We are the men of Lambda Chi Alpha.

BadgeAssociate Membership

In 1972, Lambda Chi Alpha became the first fraternity to abolish pledgeship and replaced it with Associate Membership. Lambda Chi Alpha believes in the value of every human being. This is reflected in our open motto, Vir Quisque Vir, translated means Every Man a Man. Associate Membership grants new members full rights of membership, including the right to vote and hold office. We believe that the Associate Member program create a sense of equality amongst its members which allows all our brothers to become better men, rather than be degraded by older members and tradition.

true BroTRUE Brother Initiative

The TRUE Brother Initiative is Lambda Chi Alpha's educational platform.  Focusing on developmental areas including: empathy, self awareness, capacity for intimacy, altruism, self esteem, and more. The TRUE Brother Initiative has shown that a member of Lambda Chi Alpha is statistically more emotionally aware of himself and others, such as, family members and classmates. As a result, a Lambda Chi Alpha brother has a greater capacity to support and assist his fellow man.

Badge2Initiation Ritual and Exoteric Mysteries

Lambda Chi Alpha takes a progressive approach to Pre-Initiation and incorporating values based ritualism. We believe that ritualism has served an important purpose throughout history. Rituals help bring people together and to remind us all of important truths.  Based on Christian Principles, our Initiation Ritual and Exoteric Mysteries are sure to offer you a fond appreciation of ritualism. This ritualism will help you see the strengths of a brotherhood when its at its highest and can help you understand more about yourself.

CresentCrossFocus on Growth

Lambda Chi Alpha is one of the first/only fraternities to offer continued growth opportunities for Initiated Brothers. In most fraternities, the education process stops after a member is initiated. However, Lambda Chi Alpha has created the Inner Circle Journey, which allows Initiated Brothers to continue their growth through different experiences, reflections, and Ritualistic teachings. In Lambda Chi Alpha you will always be encouraged to grow and receive more out of your fraternity experience.

SevenOur Seven Core Values

Lambda Chi Alpha has 7 Core Values which have helped our brothers find growth and become leaders in business, academia, government, ministry, and more!  However, through the Lambda Chi Alpha experience you will learn much more than LDRSHIP, you will have opportunities to gain understanding in other Christian principles such as truth, justice, faith, hope, and love, all of which, work together to create a well rounded man.

Rush Information

What is Rush?
"Rush" or more formerly known as recruitment is the process in which men not part of the Greek System apply for membership in a Greek Society. Simply put is the time when the fraternity considers new associate members to the chapter.
When does Rush Happen?
Rush happens around the beginning of each semester and goes for about a three week period. Lambda Chi Alpha traditionally holds two open rushes which are open to any man who wishes to join and a closed rush which is an invite only event. To be considered for closed rush, you must attend at least one rush event, however we encourage you to come to both events to get to know as many brothers as possible. After the closed rush the fraternity votes to decide who to extend bids of associate membership.
Who Can Rush?
Any male, full time Lycoming College student. The student must have at least a 2.5 GPA and be in good standing with the college. Please note that Freshman may only rush after their first semester of classes. All other students and transfers are free to rush in the fall or spring.
