What is "Collegiate Challenge?"

Every year Habitat's Campus Chapters & Youth Program sponsors the Collegiate Challenge program.  This program provides high school and college students with alternative spring break trips.  Students can spend their week building and working on houses anywhere in the U.S.

The Collegiate Challenge program began in 1989 and is one of the country's largest year-round alternative break programs. Lycoming's Chapter of Habitat for Humanity has participated in the Collegiate Challenge since 1990.  Lycoming College students have traveled from Florida to Texas to New Mexico, even all the way to California. Most years we send groups of over 25 students who give their spring break to help others, and have lots of fun while they are doing it. Work is not the only thing that happens on the trip, Students participate in other activities such as going to the beach, swimming, miniature golf, roller skating, and other fun local activities.

Collegiate Challenge is supported by fundraising efforts throughout the year such as lemonade sales and the annual 5k Run for Shelter,  We also receive money from Student Senate and other private donations.
