Area high school students invited to College Night on the Lycoming College Campus

Lycoming College invites all Williamsport area high school students to “College Night” on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Keiper Recreation Center on the Lycoming campus. High school students interested in pursuing a college degree will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from more than 60 institutions of higher education. The annual event is free and open to the public.

“For many students, ‘College Night’ signifies the start of their college search, and we hope to see all area high school students taking advantage of the event, which is hosted right in their backyard, in partnership with the Lycoming County Counselors Association,” said Mike Konopski, vice president for enrollment management at Lycoming College. “Aspiring college students will have a chance to not only learn about the colleges they want to apply to, but what colleges are looking for in young scholars.”

Representatives from each school will be on hand to discuss areas of study available at their institution, as well as to share details on internships, research opportunities and scholarships, beyond what is available on their respective institutions’ websites. Speaking directly with a representative may also help a student’s application stand out among the hundreds each college receives yearly.

“Choosing a college can be a life-changing decision and one that should not be taken lightly,” said Ronda Albert, counselor at Montoursville Area High School and president of Lycoming County Counselors Association. “Our counselors urge students and their families to attend the event for the individualized attention they’ll receive from college counselors.”
