Creating a safe campus community

By Steve Amrom, Director of Safety and Security

As parents, we are all concerned about safety when we send our children off to college. I know safety was something I looked into when I helped my daughters choose colleges, three of whom attended at Lycoming College long before I ever worked here.

At Lycoming, the safety and security of our campus community is paramount, as it is a shared responsibility among all members on our campus — staff, faculty and students. The Office of Safety and Security is committed to working in collaboration with everyone at our College to provide a safe living and learning environment.

Our annual security report serves as an excellent source of information about our safety and security services, as well as prevention programming and additional resources the College offers to its community members. This report can be found on our website at www.lycoming.edu/public-safety/.

We encourage everyone with a Lycoming.edu email address to look into another safety service we offer: “RAVE Guardian.” This app helps turn a cell phone into a personal safety device. The features allow you to report crimes, transmit your location to the Office of Safety and Security in case of an emergency, and much more.

Feel free to contact me directly at 570-321-4064, or email me at amroms@lycoming.edu if you have any questions, comments or concerns about campus safety services.
