Galileo changed the world’s view of the universe when he turned his improved telescope skyward in 1609. Learn more at two shows in Lycoming College’s Detwiler Planetarium on April 1 at 6:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. as part of the Williamsport First Friday events organized by Lycoming County Celebrates the Arts Alliance. The event is open to the public.
The upcoming show, “Galileo Observes the Heavens,” will outline how Galileo’s improved observations of the moon, planets and stars shifted accepted beliefs of the world.
Free tickets are available that evening starting at 5 p.m. outside the planetarium. Seating is first come, first served.
The planetarium is located in the Lynn Science Center on the corner of Washington Blvd. and Mulberry St.
