The Lycoming College Community Service Center is collaborating with the First United Methodist Church of Williamsport and the American Rescue Workers (ARW) to host “Box City” from 6 p.m. on Nov. 7 to 6 a.m. on Nov. 8.

Participants spend the night sheltered only by cardboard boxes, creating a box city on the college’s intramural field. “Faces of Homelessness,” a documentary, will be shown and there will be a live DJ. The event is designed to raise both funds and awareness for the problem of homelessness in Williamsport and the surrounding area. In addition to financial sponsors for each participant spending the night, there is also a warm clothing/blanket drive. All proceeds will benefit the American Rescue Worker’s Saving Grace Shelter.

The registration fee is waived for college students, who are encouraged to register at the Lycoming College Community Service Center website (click on the “Box City” link). For more information, or to register non-students, visit the American Rescue Workers website.
