Lycoming College will hold a Unity March and Rally on Thursday, Nov. 4, beginning at 11:45 a.m. Students, faculty and staff will gather near the David B. Sykes Gates at the College's intramural fields located between Market and Mulberry streets before proceeding through campus to gather on Lycoming's Quad. Messages will be delivered by Dr. N. J. Stanley, assistant professor of theatre, and senior Robert Hamell, of Morrisville, Pa., executive president of the Student Senate of Lycoming College.
The Unity March and Rally provides an opportunity for the College community to foster an even more inclusive campus environment, reaffirming Lycoming's commitment to the values clearly defined in the College mission statement:
"The mission of Lycoming College is to provide a distinguished baccalaureate education in the liberal arts. This is achieved within a coeducational, supportive, residential setting through programs that...promote racial inclusiveness, gender equality, and an appreciation of cultural diversity; and produce leadership for the institutions of society. Each student is encouraged to develop and strengthen virtues and traits of character that enable, ennoble, and emancipate the human spirit while deepening commitment to those values that undergird civilization."
