WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming College will welcome the Class of 2014 to campus during its annual New Student Convocation on Friday, Aug. 27. The traditional ceremony, which marks the beginning of the academic year, will be held at 4 p.m. on the College's Upper Quad near Clarke Chapel. In the event of inclement weather, the convocation will be held in the Recreation Center. The Honorable P. Kevin Brobson, Lycoming College alumnus and a judge of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, will be the guest speaker.
Brobson was sworn in as a judge of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania in January 2010. Prior to his election to the court, he was a shareholder in the Pittsburgh-based law firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC. He earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from the Widener University School of Law. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable James McGirr Kelly, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Brobson also received recognition from the Dauphin County Bar Association and from the Pennsylvania State Bar Association for his role in creating a legal services program to connect nonprofit organizations with commercial lawyers and law firms that provide pro bono services.
Brobson graduated magna cum laude from Lycoming in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in accounting and economics. At Lycoming, he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, and participated in tennis, choir and Campus Activities Board (CAB). He and his wife, Lauren, reside outside of Harrisburg with their three children, Claire, Will and Gabe.
