5-29-08

Lycoming College has been awarded a $14,550 grant from the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, a nonprofit public foundation that works with donors to develop funds that will benefit our community both now and in the future. The grant will be applied to environmental studies and summer activities associated with the Lycoming College Clean Water Institute and the Susquehanna River Heartland Coalition.

This grant was made possible through the Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds (FPW) with funding awarded by the Degenstein Foundation, and is intended to support work in advancing the quality of the environment.

According to Dr. Mel Zimmerman, professor of biology and director of the Clean Water Institute, the grant will be used to support three summer interns, mileage and expendable supplies.
