Lycoming College graduate selected for public policy fellowship

Amil GuzmanAmilcar Guzman, who graduated from Lycoming College in May, has been selected as one of 20 Latinos from across the country to participate in a nine-month public policy fellowship program hosted by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) in Washington, D.C. Guzman served as president of Lycoming’s senior class and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology-anthropology. He is a resident of Allentown, Pa., and a graduate of Louis E. Dieruff High School.

Fellows have the opportunity to work in such areas as international affairs, economic development, education policy, housing or local government.

The CHCI was established in 1978 as a non-profit, non-partisan educational organization dedicated to developing the next generation of Latino leaders. Its educational services are designed to provide Latino students with the tools and resources they need to succeed in attaining a higher education. Its leadership development programs seek to help participants search for and understand their identity as professionals, Latinos, and leaders.
