Lycoming College students offered local shuttle service 

The partners associated with the College Town program through the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce the establishment of the College Town Shuttle. This shuttle service is being run through River Valley Transit and addresses a need identified by students from Lycoming College and Pennsylvania College of Technology.

College Town is beginning a test pilot of a student shuttle service starting April 3-5 and again April 10-12. It is being done through the request of the Student Government Organizations at both Penn and Lycoming colleges.

“We are pleased to be able to provide this type of service to the student population,” said Bill Nichols, executive director of River Valley Transit. The cost of the pilot program is being underwritten by the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce through the College Town Committee.

Vince Matteo, president and CEO of the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce stated “It is important to continue to build upon the relationship between the college students and the businesses in our community. The Chamber is pleased to be able to help in facilitating this relationship.  Transportation is key for students who want to patronize area businesses. River Valley Transit is a natural partner is being able to provide this solution.”

The College Town Committee is a program of the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce. It is a partnership that includes, Lycoming and Penn colleges, Newport Business Institute, the City of Williamsport and the Williamsport Main Street.
