Xue Zhang (LaLa) Accounting and Managerial Economics major |
|
Greetings!
My name is Xue Zhang and I am from Beijing, China. My friends call me “LaLa.” I first came to know Lycoming as a high school foreign exchange student. When I came to America I was very homesick, but after a while I settled in and began thinking about going to college here. Some friends suggested I look at Lycoming and here I am ready to start my senior year.
Academically, I am pursuing a double major in Accounting and Managerial Economics. I love the path that I have chosen because there are many job opportunities available in both fields. This past summer I interned at Paradigm Management Company in Washington, DC. The company focuses on leasing consultation in property management, real estate, and sales. I worked as an accounting assistant in the accounts payable department.
Lycoming also has a wonderful study abroad program that is run through the Institute for Management Studies. I took advantage of the one-month May Term and traveled to London, Prague, and Paris. While there, I visited several firms such as Bloomberg, the Chicago Board of Trade, and other European corporations.
Throughout my years at Lycoming I have been able to get involved in many campus clubs and organizations. I hold an active role in the Accounting Society, the Multicultural Awareness Group, Relay for Life, and volunteer with “Hand in Hand,” which is an event where Special Olympics athletes participate in a day of fun with Lycoming students.
After I graduate, I plan to take the Certified Public Accountant exam and gain professional experience here in America. Thanks to Lycoming’s 150 credit hour program, I am comfortable I will have no trouble passing all parts of the test. Eventually, with my US and European experiences, I plan to return home to pursue work for an international corporation in Beijing.
If you’re thinking about an accounting major, be sure to visit Lycoming and meet with our students and faculty.
