Neuroscience Learning Goals

Students who major in Neuroscience can expect to achieve the following learning goals:

  1. To have been exposed to the fundamental principles of neuroscience
  2. To have an appreciation for the interdisciplinary nature of neuroscience and the benefits of diverse approaches to understanding the mind and brain
  3. To be able to access, read, and critically analyze primary neuroscience literature
  4. To be able to discuss of ethical issues related to neuroscience research
  5. To be able to develop hypotheses, design and carry out experiments, analyze data, and present the results for neuroscience research
  6. To have had the opportunity to apply their neuroscience knowledge outside the traditional classroom setting, in a research project, internship, or clinical experience, with an accompanying presentation in Neuroscience Colloquium
