Dr. Haley earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in mathematics at Queen's University (1972); he attained the Venia Legendi [Habilitation] for Mathematics at the Universität Mannheim, Germany (1978), where he taught in the Fakultät Mathematik/Informatik as Wissenschaftlicher-Assistent and Privatdozent (1971 to 1980); in 1980 he joined the Lycoming Mathematical Sciences Department to deliver the fledgling major in computer science and also support the mathematics program.
Dr. Haley is published in the prestigious Canadian Journal of Mathematics, the Pacific Journal of Mathematics, and the Mathematische Annalen (Springer); a monograph of his research on Equational Compactness in Rings was also published by Springer-Verlag Berlin/Heidelberg/New York (ISBN 3-540-09548-9).
Dr. Haley's outside interests include the visual arts, music, and mycology.
