Executive Director of Marketing and Communications
James Raby assumed his new role as executive director in July 2014. He is responsible for managing all of the college's advertising, e-communications, marketing strategies, media relations, photography, public relations, publications, social media and sports information efforts. He also serves as editor of Lycoming Magazine. Previously he served as Senior Director of Enrollment Marketing at American University in Washington, D.C., for nine years. There he was responsible for the planning, development and implementation of the University’s undergraduate recruiting and marketing strategies in coordination with Undergraduate Admissions, the academic units and University Communications and Marketing. He also developed marketing strategies and communications for the Financial Aid Office as they pertained to both prospective undergraduates and currently enrolled students.In addition to guiding the marketing communications (including all print and electronic media) James was responsible for the management of the admissions call center, the Welcome Center, which receives 25,000 visitors each year, and on- and off-campus events.
Prior to that James was the director of marketing for a real estate advisory firm with three regional offices, and held similar positions for several engineering and architectural firms. James began his marketing career at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he was responsible for all facets of Continuing Nursing Education programs, seminars and conferences. He has 5 years experience as a high school teacher. A native of Austin, Texas, earned his BA from Texas State University and his MA in Communications form the University of New Orleans.
Murray Hanford has served as Lycoming College's publications manager since 1991. He is responsible for the design and production of all college publications and new media pieces.
Hanford has been recognized with more than 55 awards for his graphic design and new media work.
Sports Information Director
Joe Guistina joined Lycoming College as its sports information director in June 2010. He previously served for three years as an assistant media relations director at the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg.
At USC Upstate, Guistina was responsible for the public relations efforts for baseball, women's basketball, men's and women's tennis and volleyball. He also was heard on ASun.TV soccer and softball broadcasts and women's basketball audio streaming broadcasts. In 2007-08, Guistina won two CoSIDA Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest awards, including a Best In District honor for his feature on cross country runner Emily Tangwar, "Running on Fear."
Guistina came to USC Upstate from Michigan State University, where he served as an intern during the 2006-07 academic year. At MSU, he handled all public relations efforts for the perennial top 25 women's basketball program, the Big Ten champion women's golf program and the women's soccer team. He also served as a game-day media relations assistant for the national champion ice hockey program, as well as for the men's basketball and football programs.
Before MSU, Guistina spent two years as a graduate assistant at the University at Buffalo, where he earned a master of arts in informatics in 2006. He worked with the women's soccer, wrestling and baseball programs.
As a student at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa., Guistina was a three-year letterwinner as a pitcher on the Crusaders' baseball team. He also worked in the school's Sports Information Office for four years and was an editor on the school's newspaper staff for three years, serving as the sports editor as a junior. He earned a bachelor's degree in journalism in 2004.
A native of Rochester, N.Y., Guistina and his wife, Sarah, reside in Williamsport.
Director of Marketing and Public Relations
Elizabeth Greenaway became the director of marketing and public relations in September 2014. She is responsible for implementation of the College’s marketing strategies, marketing communications, media relations and public relations initiatives.
Greenaway joined Lycoming College in January 2011 as the Web content coordinator. In this role, she worked with various faculty, staff and students to enhance the content on the website. She also managed the social media and e-communications efforts for admissions, oversaw the production of campus videos, and assisted with admissions events. During her time as Web content coordinator, My College Options Enrollment Power Index (EPI) ranked the website among the top 5% in the country.
Prior to Lycoming College, Greenaway served as the director of marketing for Expectations Women’s Center, where she managed the development of client, donor and volunteer marketing communications. She also collaborated with the director of development to oversee the planning and implementation of fundraising events.
Greenaway served as a White House intern in the Office of Presidential Personnel during her time as a student at Susquehanna University. She also held leadership positions in a variety of organizations, including the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). She earned her bachelor’s degree in communications in 2009.
Throughout her career, Greenaway has held several leadership positions with the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), including national chair of the New Professionals Section. She also enjoys serving as the advisor to the Iota Mu Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta and volunteering with Expectations Women’s Center.
