PEN/Faulkner Award-winning author to speak at Lycoming College Undergraduate Research Conference

As the second annual Lycoming College Undergraduate Research Conference approaches, the College today announced that PEN/Faulkner Award-winning poet and novelist Benjamin Alire Sáenz will deliver the keynote address on Saturday, April 6, at 5 p.m., in Trogner Presentation Room, Krapf Gateway Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Lycoming College presents final works of graduating art students

Lycoming College Art Gallery in downtown Williamsport will again open its doors to the community for the annual juried exhibition featuring the thesis works of Lycoming College graduating senior art students. The exhibition opens April 5, with an artist reception at 5:30 p.m. The exhibition will run through May 11. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Spring Symposium addresses “Politics of Consumption” at Lycoming College

As part of the Lycoming College Spring Symposium, “The Politics of Consumption: Race, Class, and Ethics,” Lycoming College will host Joseph Ewoodzie, Jr., Ph.D., associate professor of sociology and Vann Professor of Racial Justice at Davidson College, for a talk about the role that food plays in cultural and racial diversity. The event is planned for Wednesday, March 20, 4:30 p.m., in the Trogner Presentation Room, Krapf Gateway Center, and is free and open to the public.

Governor Shapiro awards $40,000 “It’s On Us” grant to Lycoming College

February 13, 2024

As part of Governor Shapiro’s “It’s On Us PA” program, Lycoming College was awarded a grant in the amount of $40,000 – the highest amount possible for an individual institution – for preventive awareness of sexual, dating and domestic violence, and stalking; to provide support to students who have been affected; and to remove barriors that prevent students from reporting. This is the third It’s On Us grant awarded to the College.

Contemporary artist Phoenix Savage will exhibit video works with an exhibition entitled, “The Joy of Nothing” at the Lycoming College Art Gallery in downtown Williamsport beginning Friday, Feb. 23, with a virtual gallery talk on Friday, March 1 at 5:30 p.m. The exhibition, which will run through Sunday, March 24, is free and open to the public.

But that’s exactly what Lycoming College’s Addison Angstadt ’24 is aiming for, and she isn’t stopping there. Determined to top off her corporate communication and psychology double major with a French minor, Angstadt plunged herself into an immersive French language experience at the Université de Franche-Comté Centre de Linguistique Appliquée in Besançon, France, and her Wertz scholarship made it possible.
