Phone Set-Up

  1. LED Indicator Light:
    • Solid red – Phone is sitting in base and battery is charging.
    • Solid green – Phone is sitting in base and is fully charged.
    • Fast blinking red – Incoming call.
    • Slow blinking red – New voice mail message.
    • Slow blinking green – Phone is using only battery power and is currently connected to the network.
  2. Headset Port: Used to plug in a headset or ear bud.
  3. Speaker Button: Toggles the speaker mode on or off for the phone.
  4. Right Softkey Button: Activates the Options menu for access to the list of softkeys.
  5. Navigation Button: Accesses the menus and lists from the main screen. Allows you to scroll up and down menus to highlight options and to move left and right through phone numbers.
  6. Select Button: Activates the Help menu from the main screen. Allows you to select a menu item, a softkey, a call, or an action.
  7. Power/End Button: Turns the phone on or off, silences a ringing call, or ends a connected call. When using menus, acts as a shortcut to return to the main screen.
  8. Pound (#) Key: Toggles between locking and unlocking the keypad.
  9. Zero (0) Key: Enters "0" when dialing a number.
  10. Asterisk (*) Key: Toggles between Ring and Vibrate mode.
  11. Keypad: Allows you to dial numbers and choose menu items by number. Press and hold key 1 to access your voice mail system.
  12. One (1) Key: Enters "1" when dialing a number. Allows you to access the voice mail system.
  13. Answer/Send Button (green): Allows you to answer a ringing call or, after dialing a number, to place the call.
  14. Left Softkey Button: Activates the softkey option displayed on the screen.
  15. Mute Button: Toggles the mute feature on or off.
  16. Volume Button: When the phone is idle, controls the ring volume, vibrate option, or turns off the ring. During a call, controls the volume for the handset, and speaker mode.

Dialing Guide

From your office phone, you may place calls off-campus campus for work-related or personal reasons. To make personal calls, you must apply for a Telephone Access Code and all charges will be applied to your personal account.

For work-related calls:

  • On-Campus: Dial the 4 digit extension.
  • Calls within the 570 Area Code: Press 9 + 7-digit number.
  • Calls outside the 570 Area Code: Press 9 + 1 + Area Code + 7-digit number.
  • International Calls: Please contact the Office of Telecommunications for directions.

For personal calls:

*Remember, you must use a TAC number to make personal calls.*

  • On-Campus: Dial the 4-digit extension.
  • Calls within the 570 Area Code: Press # 9 9 + 7-digit number. You will hear "Beep Beep." Enter your TAC number.
  • Calls outside the 570 Area Code: Press # 9 9 + 1 + Area Code + 7-digit number. You will hear "Beep Beep." Enter your TAC number.
  • International Calls: Please contact the Office of Telecommunications for directions.

** Please note that after you dial 9 to get an outside line, you WILL NOT hear a dial-tone. However, it IS dialing. There is a 5 second pause before you hear the connection (for example, ringing or busy signal) on the other end of the line.

Note: Dialing instructions for the fax machines may differ. Please see the department secretary for directions when placing a fax.

Voice Mail Guide

Checking Your Voice Mail

The LED light on the top of your handset is the voicemail indicator light. When it is slowly blinking red, it indicates that you have voicemail waiting.

To Check New Messages from Your Office:

  1. On your phone, dial 7000.
  2. Enter your password and then press #.
  3. To check new messages, press 1.

Note: To get into the message quicker, press 7000, password, #1#.

Phone Shortcuts

Answering a Call

Simply press the Answer/Send Button (green) on the handset.

Placing a Call

Dial the number then press the Answer/Send Button (green) on the handset.

Placing a Call on Hold

Press the Hold button.
Press the Resume button again to reconnect.

Transferring a Call

While on the phone, press the Options softkey.
Press 2 to select "Trnsfer."
Enter the 4-digit extension you wish to transfer to.
Press the Options softkey again.
Press 2 to select "Trnsfer."
Once the call is successfully transferred, your phone will hang up.

Call Forward

From the main screen, press the Options softkey.
Press 3 to select "CFwdAll."
Enter the 4-digit extension you wish to transfer to. (To forward all calls to voicemail, enter 7000.)
To undo call forward, press the Options softkey again.
Press 3 to select "CFwdAll."

Redial Last Number Called

From the main screen, press the Options softkey.
Press 1 to select "Redial."

Retrieve Missed, Received, & Placed Calls

From the main screen, press the up navigation button so that the Directories icon is highlighted.
This will bring the Directory menu up.
Press 1 for "Missed Calls," 2 for "Received Calls," or 3 for "Placed Calls."
To exit, press the Exit softkey – OR – the Options button and press 1 for "Back."
